The rejection of the warnings that God sends

From age to age the warnings which God has sent to the world by his servants have been received with like incredulity and unbelief. When the iniquity of the antediluvians moved him to bring a flood of waters upon the earth, he first made known to them his purpose, that they might have opportunity to turn from their evil ways. For a hundred and twenty years was sounded in their ears the warning to repent, lest the wrath of God be manifested in their destruction. But the message seemed to them an idle tale, and they believed it not. Emboldened in their wickedness, they mocked the messenger of God, made light of his entreaties, and even accused him of presumption. How dare one man stand up against all the great men of the earth? If Noah’s message were true, why did not all the world see it and believe it? One man’s assertion against the wisdom of thousands! They would not credit the warning, nor would they seek shelter in the ark. GC88 337.3<\/p>\n
Scoffers pointed to the things of nature,\u2014to the unvarying succession of the seasons, to the blue skies that had never poured out rain, to the green fields refreshed by the soft dews of night,\u2014and they cried out, \u201cDoth he not speak parables?\u201d In contempt they declared the preacher of righteousness to be a wild enthusiast; and they went on, more eager in their pursuit of pleasure, more intent upon their evil ways, than ever before. But their unbelief did not hinder the predicted event. God bore long with their wickedness, giving them ample opportunity for repentance; but at the appointed time his judgments were visited upon the rejecters of his mercy. GC88 338.1<\/p>\n
Christ declares that there will exist similar unbelief concerning his second coming. As the people of Noah’s day \u201cknew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so,\u201d in the words of our Saviour, \u201cshall also the coming of the Son of man be.\u201d [Matthew 24:39.] When the professed people of God are uniting with the world, living as they live, and joining with them in forbidden pleasure; when the luxury of the world becomes the luxury of the church; when the marriage bells are chiming, and all are looking forward to many years of worldly prosperity,\u2014then, suddenly as the lightning flashes from the heavens, will come the end of their bright visions and delusive hopes. El rechazo de las amonestaciones que Dios envia

Siglo tras siglo las amonestaciones que Dios dirigi\u00f3 al mundo por medio de sus siervos, fueron recibidas con la misma incredulidad y falta de fe. Cuando la maldad de los antediluvianos le indujo a enviar el diluvio sobre la tierra, les di\u00f3 primero a conocer su prop\u00f3sito para ofrecerles oportunidad de apartarse de sus malos caminos. Durante ciento veinte a\u00f1os oyeron resonar en sus o\u00eddos la amonestaci\u00f3n que los llamaba al arrepentimiento, no fuese que la ira de Dios los destruyese. Pero el mensaje se les antoj\u00f3 f\u00e1bula rid\u00edcula, y no lo creyeron. Envalenton\u00e1ndose en su maldad, se mofaron del mensajero de Dios, se rieron de sus amenazas, y hasta le acusaron de presunci\u00f3n. \u00bfC\u00f3mo se atrev\u00eda \u00e9l solo a levantarse contra todos los grandes de la tierra? Si el mensaje de No\u00e9 era verdadero, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 no lo reconoc\u00eda por tal el mundo entero? y \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 no le daba cr\u00e9dito? \u00a1Era la afirmaci\u00f3n de un hombre contra la sabidur\u00eda de millares! No quisieron dar fe a la amonestaci\u00f3n, ni buscar protecci\u00f3n en el arca. CS54 386.1<\/p>\n
Los burladores llamaban la atenci\u00f3n a las cosas de la naturaleza,\u2014a la sucesi\u00f3n invariable de las estaciones, al cielo azul que nunca hab\u00eda derramado lluvia, a los verdes campos refrescados por el suave roc\u00edo de la noche,\u2014y exclamaban: \u201c\u00bfNo habla acaso en par\u00e1bolas?\u201d Con desprecio declaraban que el predicador de la justicia era fan\u00e1tico rematado; y siguieron corriendo tras los placeres y andando en sus malos caminos con m\u00e1s empe\u00f1o que nunca antes. Pero su incredulidad no impidi\u00f3 la realizaci\u00f3n del acontecimiento predicho. Dios soport\u00f3 mucho tiempo su maldad, d\u00e1ndoles amplia oportunidad para arrepentirse, pero a su debido tiempo sus juicios cayeron sobre los que hab\u00edan rechazado su misericordia. CS54 386.2<\/p>\n
Cristo declara que habr\u00e1 una incredulidad an\u00e1loga respecto a su segunda venida. As\u00ed como en tiempo de No\u00e9 los hombres \u201cno entendieron hasta que vino el diluvio, y los llev\u00f3 a todos; as\u00ed,\u201d seg\u00fan las palabras de nuestro Salvador, \u201cser\u00e1 la venida del Hijo del hombre.\u201d Mateo 24:39 (VM). Cuando los que profesan ser el pueblo de Dios se unan con el mundo, viviendo como \u00e9l vive y compartiendo sus placeres prohibidos; cuando el lujo del mundo se vuelva el lujo de la iglesia; cuando las campanas repiquen a bodas, y todos cuenten en perspectiva con muchos a\u00f1os de prosperidad mundana,\u2014entonces, tan repentinamente como el rel\u00e1mpago cruza el cielo, se desvanecer\u00e1n sus visiones brillantes y sus falaces esperanzas.
