3-6, 13-17 (Revelation 13:1, 2, 11). God\u2019s People in the Minority\u2014
\nUnder the symbols of a great red dragon, a leopardlike beast, and a beast with lamblike horns, the earthly governments which would especially engage in trampling upon God\u2019s law and persecuting His people, were presented to John. The war is carried on till the close of time. The people of God, symbolized by a holy woman and her children, were represented as greatly in the minority. In the last days only a remnant still existed. Of these John speaks as they \u201cwhich keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ\u201d (The Signs of the Times, November 1, 1899).<\/p>\n
7. War in Heaven\u2014Opposition to the law of God had its beginning
\nin the courts of heaven, with Lucifer, the covering cherub. Satan determined to be first in the councils of heaven, and equal with God. He began his work of rebellion with the angels under his command, seeking to diffuse among them the spirit of discontent.
\nAnd he worked in so deceptive a way that many of the angels were
\nwon to his allegiance before his purposes were fully known. Even
\nthe loyal angels could not fully discern his character, nor see to what his work was leading. When Satan had succeeded in winning many angels to his side, he took his cause to God, representing that it was the desire of the angels that he occupy the position that Christ held.<\/p>\n
The evil continued to work until the spirit of disaffection ripened
\ninto active revolt. Then there was war in heaven, and Satan, with
\nall who sympathized with him, was cast out. Satan had warred for
\nthe mastery in heaven, and had lost the battle. God could no longer
\ntrust him with honor and supremacy, and these, with the part he had taken in the government of heaven, were taken from him.
\nSince that time Satan and his army of confederates have been the
\navowed enemies of God in our world, continually warring against
\nthe cause of truth and righteousness. Satan has continued to present to men, as he presented to the angels, his false representations of Christ and of God, and he has won the world to his side. Even the professedly Christian churches have taken sides with the great apostate (The Review and Herald, January 28, 1909).<\/p>\n
(See EGW comment on 2 Corinthians 10:5.) The Influence of Mind on Mind\u2014In so deceptive a way did he [Lucifer] work that the sentiments that he inculcated could not be dealt with until they had developed in the minds of those who received them.<\/p>\n
The influence of mind on mind, so strong a power for good when sanctified, is equally strong for evil in the hands of those opposed to God. This power Satan used in his work of instilling evil into the minds of the angels, and he made it appear that he was seeking the good of the universe. As the anointed cherub, Lucifer had been highly exalted; he was greatly loved by the heavenly beings, and his influence over them was strong. Many of them listened to his
\nsuggestions and believed his words. \u201cAnd there was war in heaven:
\nMichael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon
\nfought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place
\nfound any more in heaven.\u201d
\nCast out of heaven, Satan set up his kingdom in this world, and ever since, he has been untiringly striving to seduce human beings from their allegiance to God. He uses the same power that he used in heaven\u2014the influence of mind on mind. Men become tempters of their fellow men. The strong, corrupting sentiments of Satan are cherished, and they exert a masterly, compelling power. Under the influence of these sentiments, men bind up with one another in
\nconfederacies (Letter 114, 1903).<\/p>\n
Satan\u2019s Refusal to Obey Christ\u2014He [Satan] declares he cannot submit to be under Christ\u2019s command, that God\u2019s commands alone will he obey. Good angels weep to hear the words of Satan, and to see how he despises to follow the direction of Christ, their exalted and loving Commander.<\/p>\n
The Father decides the case of Satan, and declares that he must be turned out of heaven for his daring rebellion, and that all those who united with him in his rebellion should be turned out with him. Then there was war in heaven. Christ and His angels fought against Satan and his angels, for they were determined to remain in heaven with all their rebellion. But they prevailed not. Christ and loyal angels triumphed, and drove Satan and his rebel sympathizers from heaven. (Spiritual Gifts 3:38).<\/p>\n
Rebellion Transferred to ThisWorld\u2014When Satan rebelled, there was war in heaven, and he, with all his sympathizers, was cast out. He had held a high office in heaven, possessing a throne radiant with light. But he swerved from his allegiance to the blessed and only Potentate, and fell from his first estate. All who sympathized with him were driven from the presence of God, doomed to be no more acknowledged in the heavenly courts as having a right there. Satan became the avowed antagonist of Christ. On the earth he planted the standard of rebellion, and round it his sympathizers rallied (Manuscript 78, 1905).<\/p>\n

10. Satan Cast Down by Death of Christ\u2014The casting down of Satan as an accuser of the brethren in heaven was accomplished by the great work of Christ in giving up His life. Notwithstanding Satan\u2019s persistent opposition, the plan of redemption was being carried out. Man was esteemed of sufficient value for Christ to sacrifice His life for him. Satan, knowing that the empire he had usurped would in the end be wrested from him, determined to spare no pains to destroy as many as possible of the creatures whom God had created in His image. He hated man because Christ had manifested for him such forgiving love and pity, and he now prepared to practice upon him every species of deception by which he might be lost; he pursued his course with more energy because of his own
\nhopeless condition (The Spirit of Prophecy 3:194, 195).<\/p>\n
(2 Corinthians 5:19; Philippians 2:6.) Satan Uprooted From Affections of the Universe\u2014In carrying out his enmity to Christ until He hung upon the cross of Calvary, with wounded, bruised body and broken heart, Satan completely uprooted himself from the affections of the universe. It was then seen that God had in His Son
\ndenied Himself, giving Himself for the sins of the world, because He
\nloved mankind. The Creator was revealed in the Son of the infinite
\nGod. Here the question, \u201cCan there be self-denial with God?\u201d was
\nforever answered. Christ was God, and condescending to be made
\nflesh, He assumed humanity and became obedient unto death, that
\nHe might undergo infinite sacrifice (Manuscript 50, 1900).<\/p>\n
(John 3:14-17; Galatians 6:14; Hebrews 9:22.) Accusing Power of Satan Broken\u2014Christ on the cross, not only draws men to repentance toward God for the transgression of His law\u2014for whom God pardons He first makes penitent\u2014but Christ has satisfied justice; He has proffered Himself as an atonement. His gushing
\nblood, His broken body, satisfy the claims of the broken law, and
\nthus He bridges the gulf which sin has made. He suffered in the
\nflesh that with His bruised and broken body He might cover the
\ndefenseless sinner. The victory gained at His death on Calvary broke forever the accusing power of Satan over the universe, and silenced his charges that self-denial was impossible with God and therefore not essential in the human family (Manuscript 50, 1900).<\/p>\n

\n2:7-12). Power to Conquer Day by Day\u2014All who will can be overcomers. Let us strive earnestly to reach the standard set before us. Christ knows our weakness, and to Him we can go daily for help. It is not necessary for us to gain strength a month ahead. We are to conquer from day to day (Manuscript 28, 1886).<\/p>\n
The Secret of Overcoming Sin\u2014We become overcomers by helping others to overcome, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. The keeping of the commandments of God will yield in us an obedient spirit, and the service that is the offspring of such a spirit, God can accept (Letter 236, 1908).<\/p>\n

\n17). Satan\u2019s Masterpiece of Evil\u2014Those who love and keep the
\ncommandments of God are most obnoxious to the synagogue of
\nSatan, and the powers of evil will manifest their hatred toward them
\nto the fullest extent possible. John foresaw the conflict between
\nthe remnant church and the power of evil, and said, \u201cThe dragon
\nwas wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant
\nof her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the
\ntestimony of Jesus Christ.\u201d
\nThe forces of darkness will unite with human agents who have
\ngiven themselves into the control of Satan, and the same scenes
\nthat were exhibited at the trial, rejection, and crucifixion of Christ
\nwill be revived. Through yielding to satanic influences, men will be
\ntransformed into fiends; and those who were created in the image
\nof God, who were formed to honor and glorify their Creator, will
\nbecome the habitation of dragons, and Satan will see in an apostate
\nrace his masterpiece of evil\u2014men who reflect his own image (The
\nReview and Herald, April 14, 1896).<\/p>\n
Only Two Parties Upon Earth\u2014There are only two parties upon this earth\u2014those who stand under the bloodstained banner of Jesus Christ and those who stand under the black banner of rebellion. In the twelfth chapter of Revelation is represented the great conflict
\nbetween the obedient and the disobedient [Revelation 12:17; 13:11-17 quoted] (Manuscript 16, 1900).<\/p>\n
(Ephesians 6:10-12.) The Earth a Stage for Horrors\u2014[Revelation
\n12:17 quoted.] Satanic agencies have made the earth a stage for horrors, which no language can describe. War and bloodshed are
\ncarried on by nations claiming to be Christian. A disregard for the
\nlaw of God has brought its sure result.<\/p>\n
The great conflict now being waged is not merely a strife of man against man. On one side stands the Prince of life, acting as man\u2019s substitute and surety; on the other, the prince of darkness, with the fallen angels under his command [Ephesians 6:12, 13, 10, 11 quoted] (RH February 6, 1900).<\/p>\n

\n15-19 (\u00bf12-19?) (Isaiah 14:12-15; Revelation 12:7-9). Satan\u2019s Corrupt Working\u2014There is a grand rebellion in the earthly universe. Is there not a great leader of that rebellion? Is not Satan the life and
\nsoul of every species of rebellion which he himself has instigated?
\nIs he not the first great apostate from God? A rebellion exists.
\nLucifer revolted from his allegiance and makes war on the divine
\ngovernment. Christ is appointed to put down the rebellion. He
\nmakes this world His battlefield. He stands at the head of the human family. He clothes His divinity with humanity and He passes over the ground where Adam fell and endures all the assaults of Satan\u2019s temptations, but He does not yield in a single instance.<\/p>\n
The salvation of a world is at stake. He resisted the archdeceiver.
\nIn behalf of man He must conquer as a man, and in the very same
\nmanner man must conquer by \u201cIt is written.\u201d His own words under
\nthe guise of humanity would be misjudged, misinterpreted, falsified.
\nHis own words spoken as the divine Son of God could not be
\nfalsified.<\/p>\n
It will be in the last great day when every case receives as his works have been; it will be the final and eternal condemnation of
\nthe devil and all his sympathizers and all who have served under his
\njurisdiction and have identified themselves with him. Will he have a
\nreason to assign for his rebellion? When the Judge of all the world
\ndemands, Why have ye done thus? what reason can he assign, what cause can he plead? Bear in mind every tongue is silent, every mouth that has been so ready to speak evil, so ready to accuse, so ready to utter words of recrimination and falsehood is stopped, and the whole world of rebellion stands speechless before God; their tongues cleave to the roof of their mouth. The place where sin entered can be specified.<\/p>\n
\u201cThou wast perfect in thy ways … till iniquity was found in thee.\u201d \u201cThine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast
\ncorrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness.\u201d All this was
\nthe gift of God. God was not chargeable with this\u2014making the
\ncovering cherub beautiful, noble and good. \u201cBy the multitude of
\nthy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence,
\nand thou hast sinned: … thou has defiled thy sanctuaries by the
\nmultitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick.\u201d In this
\nplace \u201ctraffick\u201d is the emblem of corrupt administration. It denotes
\nthe bringing of self-seeking into spiritual offices. Nothing in spiritual
\nservice is acceptable to God except the purposes and works that are for the good of the universe. To do good to others will redound to the glory of God.<\/p>\n
The principles of Satan\u2019s working in heaven are the same princi-
\nples by which he works through human agents in this world. It is
\nthrough these corrupting principles that every earthly empire and
\nthe churches have been increasingly corrupted. It is by the working
\nout of these principles that Satan deceives and corrupts the whole
\nworld from the beginning to the ending. He is continuing this same
\npolicy-working, originally begun in the heavenly universe. He is energizing the whole world with his violence with which he corrupted the world in the days of Noah (Letter 156, 1897).<\/p>\n

\n12 (Ezekiel 28:17; Revelation 12:7-9; see EGW comment on
\nPsalm 17:13; 2 Corinthians 2:11; Galatians 5:17; Revelation
\n16:13-16). A Battle Against Principalities and Powers\u2014Could human beings know the number of the evil angels, could they know their devices and their activity, there would be far less pride and frivolity. Satan is the prince of demons. The evil angels over whom he rules do his bidding. Through them he multiplies his agencies throughout the world. He instigates all the evil that exists in our world.<\/p>\n
But though the principalities and powers of darkness are both many in number and unceasing in activity, yet the Christian should never feel hopeless or discouraged. He may not hope to escape temptation through any lack of satanic efficiency. He who sent a
\nlegion to torture one human being cannot be repulsed by human
\nwisdom or power alone.<\/p>\n
Speaking of Satan, the Lord declares that he abode not in the truth. Once he was beautiful, radiant in light. But God\u2019s Word declares of him, \u201cThine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty.\u201d<\/p>\n
Satan instigated others to rebel, and after they were cast out of
\nheaven he bound them together in a confederacy to do all the evil
\npossible to man, as the only means of striking God. Excluded from
\nheaven, he resolved to be avenged by injuring the workmanship of
\nGod. Around the standard of rebellion that he planted, evil workers
\nof all generations have rallied. Evil angels have united with evil men
\nin a warfare against Christ\u2019s kingdom.<\/p>\n
Satan\u2019s aim had been to reproduce his own character in human
\nbeings. No sooner was man created than Satan resolved to efface in
\nhim the image of God, and to place his stamp where God\u2019s should
\nbe. And he has succeeded in instilling into the heart of man the
\nspirit of envy, of hatred, of ambition. In this world he has set up a
\nkingdom of darkness, of which he, the leader in guilt, is prince. He
\ndesired to usurp the throne of God. Failing in this, he has worked
\nin darkness, in crookedness, in deception, to usurp his place in the
\nhearts of men. He has set up his throne between God and man, to
\nappropriate the adoration that belongs to God alone (Manuscript 33,
\n1911).<\/p>\n
(Hebrews 1:14.) Under Whose Control?\u2014I want you to consider
\nwhat kind of a position we should be left in if we had not the ministry of holy angels…. \u201cWe wrestle not against flesh and blood.\u201d
\nWe meet the opposition of men, but there is someone behind that
\nopposition. It is the prince of the powers of darkness with his evil
\nangels that are constantly at work, and we want to consider, all of us, that our warfare is \u201cagainst principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Who is it that is ruling the world today, and who is it that have chosen to stand under the banner of the prince of darkness? Why, it is nearly the whole world at large. All the world that have not accepted Jesus Christ have chosen for their leader the prince of darkness; and just as soon as they stand under his banner, they have connection with evil angels. Either the evil angels or the angels of God are controlling the minds of men. Our minds are given to the control of God, or to the control of the powers of darkness; and it will be well for us to inquire where we are standing today\u2014whether under the blood-stained banner of Prince Emmanuel, or under the black banner of the powers of darkness.<\/p>\n
We must make every preparation in our power in order to resist
\nthe enemy of souls. Every provision has been made; everything
\nin God\u2019s plan has been arranged so that man should not be left to
\nhis own impulses, to his own finite powers, to carry on the warfare
\nagainst the powers of darkness in his own finite strength; because he would certainly fail if he were thus left to himself (MS 1, 1890).<\/p>\n
(Psalm 34:7.) Faithful Sentinels on Guard\u2014There are good and evil angels. Satan is ever on the alert to deceive and mislead.
\nHe is using every enchantment to allure men into the broad road of
\ndisobedience. He is working to confuse the senses with erroneous
\nsentiments, and remove the landmarks by placing his false inscription on the signposts which God has established to point the right way. It is because these evil agencies are striving to eclipse every ray of light from the soul that heavenly beings are appointed to do their work of ministry, to guide, guard, and control those who shall be heirs of salvation. None need despair because of the inherited tendencies to evil, but when the Spirit of God convicts of sin, the wrongdoer must repent and confess and forsake the evil. Faithful sentinels are on guard to direct souls in right paths (Manuscript 8, 1900).<\/p>\n
ConstantWarfare of the Angels\u2014If the curtain could be rolled back, and each one could discern the constant activities of the heavenly
\nfamily to preserve the inhabitants of the earth from Satan\u2019s
\nseductive wiles, lest in their careless attitude they should be led
\nastray through satanic strategy, they would lose a large degree of
\ntheir self-confidence and self-assurance. They would see that the
\narmies of heaven are in continual warfare with satanic agencies, to
\nobtain victories in behalf of those who do not sense their danger,
\nand who are passing on in unconscious indifference (Manuscript 32,
\n1900).<\/p>\n

\n14:4).Walking as ChristWalked\u2014Those who walk even as Christ
\nwalked, who are patient, gentle, kind, meek and lowly in heart, those who yoke up with Christ and lift His burdens, who yearn for souls as He yearned for them\u2014these will enter into the joy of their Lord. They will see with Christ the travail of His soul, and be satisfied. Heaven will triumph, for the vacancies made in heaven by the fall of Satan and his angels will be filled by the redeemed of the Lord (The Review and Herald, May 29, 1900).<\/p>\n
The Imitation of Christ\u2014True religion is the imitation of Christ. Those who follow Christ will deny self, take up the cross, and walk in His footsteps. Following Christ means obedience to all His commandments. No soldier can be said to follow his commander
\nunless he obeys orders. Christ is our model. To copy Jesus, full of
\nlove and tenderness and compassion, will require that we draw near
\nto Him daily. O how God has been dishonored by His professed
\nrepresentatives (Letter 31a, 1894)!<\/p>\n

\n13-16 (Revelation 13:13, 14; Revelation 17:13, 14; Revelation
\n19:11-16; see EGW comment on Revelation 7:1-3). Battle of Armageddon Soon to Be Fought\u2014There are only two parties in our world, those who are loyal to God, and those who stand under the banner of the prince of darkness. Satan and his angels will come
\ndown with power and signs and lying wonders to deceive those who
\ndwell on the earth, and if possible the very elect. The crisis is right
\nupon us. Is this to paralyze the energies of those who have a knowledge of the truth? Is the influence of the powers of deception so far reaching that the influence of the truth will be overpowered?
\nThe battle of Armageddon is soon to be fought. He on whose vesture is written the name, King of kings and Lord of lords, leads
\nforth the armies of heaven on white horses, clothed in fine linen,
\nclean and white (Manuscript 172, 1899).<\/p>\n
Every form of evil is to spring into intense activity. Evil angels unite their powers with evil men, and as they have been in constant
\nconflict and attained an experience in the best modes of deception
\nand battle, and have been strengthening for centuries, they will not
\nyield the last great final contest without a desperate struggle. All the world will be on one side or the other of the question. The battle
\nof Armageddon will be fought, and that day must find none of us
\nsleeping. Wide awake we must be, as wise virgins having oil in our
\nvessels with our lamps.\u2026<\/p>\n
The power of the Holy Ghost must be upon us, and the Captain of the Lord\u2019s host will stand at the head of the angels of heaven to direct the battle. Solemn events before us are yet to transpire.
\nTrumpet after trumpet is to be sounded, vial after vial poured out one after another upon the inhabitants of the earth. Scenes of stupendous interest are right upon us (Letter 112, 1890).<\/p>\n

\nDavid was a representative man. His history is of interest to every soul who is striving for eternal victories. In his life two powers
\nstruggled for the mastery. Unbelief marshalled its forces, and tried
\nto eclipse the light shining upon him from the throne of God. Day
\nby day the battle went on in his heart, Satan disputing every step
\nof advance made by the forces of righteousness. David understood
\nwhat it meant to fight against principalities and powers, against the
\nrulers of the darkness of this world. At times it seemed that the
\nenemy must gain the victory. But in the end, faith conquered, and
\nDavid rejoiced in the saving power of Jehovah.<\/p>\n
The struggle that David went through, every other follower of
\nChrist must go through. Satan has come down with great power,
\nknowing that his time is short. The controversy is being waged in
\nfull view of the heavenly universe, and angels stand ready to lift up
\nfor God\u2019s hard pressed soldiers a standard against the enemy, and
\nto put into their lips songs of victory and rejoicing (Manuscript 38,
\n1905).<\/p>\n
5. All Paths Are Beset With Peril\u2014You need not be surprised if everything in the journey heavenward is not pleasant. There is no
\nuse in looking to our own defects. Looking unto Jesus, the darkness
\npasses away, and the true light shineth. Go forth daily, expressing
\nthe prayer of David, \u201cHold up my goings in Thy paths, that my

\nare safe if we follow where the Master leads the way, trusting the

\nDelante de Juan fueron presentados bajo los s\u00edmbolos de un gran drag\u00f3n rojo, una bestia semejante a un leopardo y una bestia con cuernos como de cordero, los gobiernos terrenales que especialmente se dedicar\u00edan a hollar la ley de Dios y a perseguir a su pueblo. La guerra sigue adelante hasta la terminaci\u00f3n del tiempo. El pueblo de Dios, simbolizado por una mujer pura y sus hijos, fueron presentados como una \u00ednfima minor\u00eda. En los \u00faltimos d\u00edas s\u00f3lo existir\u00e1 un remanente. De los que lo forman Juan habla como de aquellos que “guardan los mandamientos de Dios y tienen el testimonio de Jesucristo” (ST 1-11-1899).<\/p>\n

\nGuerra en el cielo.-
\nLa oposici\u00f3n a la ley de Dios comenz\u00f3 en los atrios celestiales con Lucifer, el querub\u00edn protector. Satan\u00e1s decidi\u00f3 ser el primero en los concilios celestiales e igual a Dios. Inici\u00f3 su obra de rebeli\u00f3n con los \u00e1ngeles que ten\u00eda bajo su mando, procurando difundir entre ellos el esp\u00edritu de descontento. Y obr\u00f3 en forma tan enga\u00f1osa, que muchos de los \u00e1ngeles fueron ganados para su causa antes de que se conocieran plenamente sus prop\u00f3sitos. Aun los \u00e1ngeles leales no pudieron discernir plenamente su car\u00e1cter, ni ver d\u00f3nde conducta su obra. Cuando Satan\u00e1s tuvo \u00e9xito en ganar a muchos \u00e1ngeles para su bando, present\u00f3 su causa
\nante Dios argumentando que el deseo de los \u00e1ngeles era que \u00e9l ocupara la posici\u00f3n de Cristo.<\/p>\n
El mal continu\u00f3 trabajando hasta que el esp\u00edritu de descontento madur\u00f3 y se transform\u00f3 en una abierta rebeli\u00f3n. Entonces hubo guerra en el cielo, y Satan\u00e1s y todos los que simpatizaban con \u00e9l fueron expulsados. Satan\u00e1s hab\u00eda luchado por el dominio en el cielo, y perdi\u00f3 la batalla. Dios no pod\u00eda confiarle honores y supremac\u00eda por m\u00e1s tiempo, y \u00e9stos, junto con la parte que hab\u00eda desempe\u00f1ado en el gobierno del cielo, le fueron quitados.<\/p>\n
Desde ese momento Satan\u00e1s y la hueste de sus aliados han sido enemigos declarados de Dios en nuestro mundo, y han luchado continuamente contra la causa de la verdad y la justicia. Satan\u00e1s ha seguido presentando a los hombres, como lo presentara a los \u00e1ngeles, su falsa imagen de Cristo y de Dios, y ha conquistado al mundo para su lado. Aun las iglesias que pretenden ser cristianas se han puesto al lado del primer gran ap\u00f3stata (RH 28-1-1909).<\/p>\n

\nEl [Lucifer] actu\u00f3 en forma tan enga\u00f1osa, que los sentimientos que inculc\u00f3 no pudieron ser examinados hasta que se desarrollaron en las mentes de los que los recibieron.<\/p>\n
La Influencia de una mente sobre otra, que es un poder tan grande para el bien cuando est\u00e1 santificada, es igualmente fuerte para el mal en las manos de los que se oponen a Dios. Satan\u00e1s ha usado este poder en su obra de inculcar el mal en las mentes de los \u00e1ngeles, dando a entender que estaba buscando el bien del universo. Lucifer hab\u00eda sido sumamente ensalzado como querub\u00edn ungido; era muy amado por los seres celestiales, y su influencia era poderosa sobre ellos. Muchos de ellos escucharon sus sugestiones y creyeron sus palabras. “Despu\u00e9s hubo una gran batalla en el cielo: Miguel y sus \u00e1ngeles luchaban contra el drag\u00f3n; y luchaban el drag\u00f3n y sus \u00e1ngeles; pero no prevalecieron, ni se hall\u00f3 ya lugar

Satan\u00e1s fue arrojado y estableci\u00f3 su reino en este mundo, y a partir de entonces siempre ha estado luchando incansablemente para apartar a los seres humanos de su lealtad a Dios mediante enga\u00f1os. Usa el mismo poder que utiliz\u00f3 en el cielo: la influencia de una mente sobre otra. Los hombres se convierten en tentadores de sus pr\u00f3jimos. Los poderosos y corruptos conceptos de Satan\u00e1s son albergados, y ejercen un poder dominante y compulsivo. Los hombres, bajo la influencia de esos conceptos, se unen entre s\u00ed en alianzas malignas (Carta 114, 1903).<\/p>\n
Satan\u00e1s se niega a obedecer a Cristo. El [Satan\u00e1s] declara que no puede someterse para estar bajo las \u00f3rdenes de Cristo, que s\u00f3lo obedecer\u00e1 las \u00f3rdenes de Dios. Los \u00e1ngeles buenos lloran al o\u00edr las palabras de Satan\u00e1s, y al ver c\u00f3mo desprecia seguir la direcci\u00f3n de Cristo, el supremo y amado Comandante de los \u00e1ngeles.<\/p>\n
El Padre decide el caso de Satan\u00e1s, y declara que debe ser expulsado del cielo por su atrevida rebeli\u00f3n, y que todos los que se unieron con \u00e9l en su rebeli\u00f3n deben ser expulsados con \u00e9l. Entonces hubo guerra en el cielo. Cristo y sus \u00e1ngeles lucharon contra Satan\u00e1s y sus \u00e1ngeles, pues \u00e9stos estaban decididos a permanecer en el cielo con toda su rebeli\u00f3n; pero no prevalecieron. Cristo y los \u00e1ngeles leales triunfaron, y arrojaron del cielo a Satan\u00e1s y a sus rebeldes simpatizantes (3SG 38).<\/p>\n
La rebeli\u00f3n transferida a este mundo.-
\nCuando Satan\u00e1s se rebel\u00f3, hubo guerra en el cielo y fue expulsado \u00e9l con todos sus simpatizantes. Su puesto en el cielo hab\u00eda sido muy encumbrado. Dispon\u00eda de un trono radiante de luz; pero se desvi\u00f3 de su lealtad al bendito y \u00fanico Soberano, y cay\u00f3 de su condici\u00f3n original. Todos los que simpatizaban con \u00e9l fueron expulsados de la presencia de Dios, condenados a no ser reconocidos m\u00e1s en los atrios celestiales como si tuvieran derecho a ellos. Satan\u00e1s se convirti\u00f3 en el antagonista declarado de Cristo. Plant\u00f3 el estandarte de la rebeli\u00f3n en la tierra, y alrededor de \u00e9l se agruparon sus simpatizantes (MS 78, 1905).<\/p>\n

\nSatan\u00e1s expulsado por la muerte de Cristo.-
\nLa expulsi\u00f3n del cielo de Satan\u00e1s como acusador de sus hermanos fue llevada a cabo por la gran obra de Cristo al dar su vida. El plan de redenci\u00f3n sigui\u00f3 adelante a pesar de la persistente oposici\u00f3n de Satan\u00e1s. El hombre fue estimado de suficiente valor para que Cristo sacrificara su vida por \u00e9l. Como Satan\u00e1s sab\u00eda que el imperio que hab\u00eda usurpado al fin le ser\u00eda arrebatado, resolvi\u00f3 no ahorrar esfuerzos para destruir al mayor n\u00famero posible de las criaturas que Dios hab\u00eda hecho a su imagen. Odiaba al hombre porque Cristo hab\u00eda manifestado por \u00e9l tal amor perdonador y tal compasi\u00f3n, y se prepar\u00f3 ahora para hacerlo objeto de toda clase de enga\u00f1os por los cuales pudiera perderse; se entreg\u00f3 a su obra con m\u00e1s energ\u00eda debido a que su propia condici\u00f3n era desesperada (3SP 194-195).<\/p>\n
(2 Cor. 5: 19; Fil. 2: 6.) Satan\u00e1s desarraigado de los afectos del universo.-
\nSatan\u00e1s se separ\u00f3 de ra\u00edz de los afectos del universo cuando consum\u00f3 su enemistad contra Cristo, hasta el extremo de hacerlo colgar de la cruz del Calvario con el cuerpo herido y magullado y el coraz\u00f3n quebrantado. Entonces se vio que Dios hab\u00eda procedido con abnegaci\u00f3n entreg\u00e1ndose en su Hijo por los pecados del mundo, porque amaba a la humanidad. El Creador fue revelado en el Hijo del Dios infinito., Aqu\u00ed se contest\u00f3 para siempre la pregunta: “\u00bfPuede Dios ser abnegado?’ Cristo era Dios, y condescendi\u00f3 en hacerse carne; tom\u00f3 la humanidad y se hizo obediente hasta la muerte para poder ser sometido al sacrificio infinito (MS 50, 1900).<\/p>\n
(Juan 3: 14, 17; G\u00e1l. 6: 14; Heb. 9: 22.) El poder acusador de Satan\u00e1s es quebrantado.-
\nCristo en la cruz no s\u00f3lo atrae a los hombres para que se arrepientan delante de Dios por las transgresiones de su ley -pues Dios a quienes perdona hace que primero se arrepientan, sino que Cristo ha satisfecho la justicia; se ha ofrecido a s\u00ed mismo como expiaci\u00f3n. Su sangre derramada, su cuerpo quebrantado, satisfacen las demandas de la ley transgredida, y as\u00ed salva con un puente el abismo que ha hecho el pecado. Sufri\u00f3 en la carne para que con su cuerpo magullado y quebrantado pudiera amparar al pecador indefenso. La victoria obtenida por su muerte en el Calvario quebrant\u00f3 para siempre el poder acusador de Satan\u00e1s sobre el universo, y silenci\u00f3 su acusaci\u00f3n de que la abnegaci\u00f3n era imposible en Dios y que, por lo tanto, no es esencial en la familia humana (MS 50, 1900).<\/p>\n

\nPoder para vencer d\u00eda tras d\u00eda.-
\nTodos los que quieran pueden ser vencedores. Esforc\u00e9monos fervientemente para alcanzar la norma puesta delante de nosotros. El secreto del triunfo sobre el pecado.-
\nNos convertimos en vencedores ayudando a otros a vencer por medio de la sangre del Cordero y la palabra de nuestro testimonio. La observancia de los mandamientos de Dios producir\u00e1 en nosotros un esp\u00edritu obediente, y Dios puede aceptar el servicio que es hijo de tal esp\u00edritu (Carta 236, 1908).<\/p>\n

\nLa maligna obra maestra de Satan\u00e1s.-
\nLos que aman a Dios y guardan sus mandamientos son los m\u00e1s detestables para la sinagoga de Satan\u00e1s, y los poderes del mal manifestar\u00e1n su odio hacia ellos hasta lo m\u00e1ximo posible. Juan previ\u00f3 el conflicto entre la iglesia remanente y los poderes del mal, y dijo: “El drag\u00f3n se llen\u00f3 de ira contra la mujer; y se fue a hacer guerra contra el resto de la descendencia de ella, los que guardan los mandamientos de Dios y tienen el testimonio de Jesucristo”.<\/p>\n
Las fuerzas de las tinieblas se unir\u00e1n con los seres humanos que se han entregado bajo el dominio de Satan\u00e1s, y ser\u00e1n revividas las mismas escenas que se vieron durante el juicio, el rechazo y la crucifixi\u00f3n de Cristo. Los hombres ser\u00e1n transformados en demonios al entregarse a las influencias sat\u00e1nicas; y los que fueron creados a la imagen de Dios, que fueron hechos para honrar y glorificar a su Creador, se convertir\u00e1n en habitaci\u00f3n de dragones, y Satan\u00e1s ver\u00e1 en una raza ap\u00f3stata su obra maestra de mal: hombres que reflejen la imagen del diablo (RH 14-4-1896).<\/p>\n
S\u00f3lo dos bandos en la tierra.-
\nHay solamente dos bandos en esta tierra los que se agrupan debajo de la bandera
\nensangrentada de Jesucristo y los que se re\u00fanen alrededor de la negra bandera de la rebeli\u00f3n. En el cap\u00edtulo 12 del Apocalipsis se presenta el gran conflicto entre los obedientes y los desobedientes [se cita Apoc. 12: 17; 13: 11-17] (MS 16, 1900).<\/p>\n
(Efe. 6: 10-12.) La tierra, un escenario de horrores.-
\n[Se cita Apoc. 12: 17] Los instrumentos sat\u00e1nicos han convertido a la tierra en un escenario de horrores que ning\u00fan lenguaje puede describir. Guerras y derramamientos de sangre son llevados a cabo por naciones que pretenden ser cristianas. El desprecio por la ley de Dios ha tra\u00eddo su inevitable resultado.<\/p>\n
El gran conflicto que ahora se est\u00e1 llevando a cabo no es solamente una lucha del hombre contra el hombre. \nLa obra corrupta de Satan\u00e1s.-
\nHay una gran rebeli\u00f3n en el universo terrenal. \u00bfNo hay un gran caudillo de esa rebeli\u00f3n? \u00bfNo es, acaso, Satan\u00e1s, la vida y el alma de todas las variedades de rebeli\u00f3n que \u00e9l mismo ha instigado?<\/p>\n
\u00bfNo es \u00e9l el primer gran ap\u00f3stata que se apart\u00f3 de Dios? Existe una rebeli\u00f3n Lucifer renunci\u00f3 a su lealtad y est\u00e1 en guerra contra el gobierno divino. Se le ha confiado a Cristo el sofocar la rebeli\u00f3n. El hace de este mundo su campo de batalla. Est\u00e1 a la cabeza de la familia humana. “Perfecto eras en todos tus caminos…. hasta que se hall\u00f3 en ti maldad… Se enalteci\u00f3 tu coraz\u00f3n a causa de tu hermosura, corrompiste tu sabidur\u00eda a causa de tu esplendor”. Todo esto era d\u00e1diva de Dios. No se pod\u00eda acusar a Dios por esto: de haber hecho al querub\u00edn cubridor bello, noble y bueno. “A causa de la multitud de tus contrataciones [‘por la amplitud de tu comercio’, BJ] fuiste lleno de iniquidad y pecaste… Con la multitud de tus maldades y con la iniquidad de tus contrataciones [‘inmoralidad de tu comercio’, BJ], profanaste tu santuario”. “Contrataci\u00f3n” es aqu\u00ed s\u00edmbolo de una administraci\u00f3n corrupta. Se\u00f1ala la
\nintroducci\u00f3n del provecho propio en las pr\u00e1cticas espirituales. Nada es aceptable delante de Dios en el servicio espiritual, con excepci\u00f3n de los prop\u00f3sitos y obras que son para el bien del universo. Hacer el bien a otros redundar\u00e1 para la gloria de Dios.<\/p>\n
Los principios que Satan\u00e1s puso en pr\u00e1ctica en el cielo son los mismos principios con los cuales act\u00faa mediante agentes humanos en este mundo. Cada imperio terrenal y las iglesias se han corrompido progresivamente por medio de esos principios de corrupci\u00f3n. Satan\u00e1s enga\u00f1a y corrompe a todo el mundo desde el principio hasta el fin, poniendo en pr\u00e1ctica esos principios. El contin\u00faa con su
\nmismo plan de acci\u00f3n comenzado originalmente en el universo celestial, e infunde su energ\u00eda en todo el mundo con su violencia, con la cual corrompi\u00f3 el mundo en los d\u00edas de No\u00e9 (Carta 156, 1897).<\/p>\n

\nUna batalla contra principados y potestades.-
\nSi los seres humanos pudieran conocer el n\u00famero de los \u00e1ngeles malos, si pudieran conocer sus artificios y su actividad, habr\u00eda mucho menos orgullo y frivolidad. Satan\u00e1s es el pr\u00edncipe de los demonios. Los \u00e1ngeles malos sobre los cuales gobierna cumplen sus \u00f3rdenes. Mediante ellos multiplica sus agentes por todo el mundo. Instiga todo el mal que existe en nuestro mundo.<\/p>\n
Pero aunque los principados y las potestades de las tinieblas son muchos en n\u00famero e incesantes en su actividad, sin embargo, el cristiano nunca debiera sentirse desvalido o desanimado. No podr\u00e1 tener la esperanza de escapar de la tentaci\u00f3n porque merme la eficiencia sat\u00e1nica. El que envi\u00f3 una legi\u00f3n para torturar a un ser humano, no puede ser rechazado \u00fanicamente por la sabidur\u00eda humana ni por el poder humano.
\nHablando de Satan\u00e1s, el Se\u00f1or declara que no hab\u00eda verdad en \u00e9l. Una vez fue hermoso, resplandeciente de luz; pero la Palabra de Dios declara de \u00e9l: “Se enalteci\u00f3 tu coraz\u00f3n a causa de tu hermosura”.<\/p>\n
Satan\u00e1s instig\u00f3 a otros a rebelarse, y despu\u00e9s de que fueron expulsados del cielo los reuni\u00f3 en una alianza para hacer todo el mal posible al hombre, como el \u00fanico medio de herir a Dios. Ya excluido del cielo, resolvi\u00f3 vengarse haciendo da\u00f1o a la hechura de Dios. Malos obreros de todas las generaciones se han reunido alrededor del estandarte de rebeli\u00f3n que \u00e9l estableci\u00f3. Los \u00e1ngeles malos se han unido con hombres malos en, una lucha contra el reino de Cristo.<\/p>\n
El prop\u00f3sito de Satan\u00e1s ha sido reproducir su propio car\u00e1cter en los seres humanos. Tan pronto como fue creado el hombre, Satan\u00e1s resolvi\u00f3 borrar de \u00e9l la imagen de Dios y colocar su sello donde debiera estar el de Dios. Y ha tenido \u00e9xito en instalar en el coraz\u00f3n del hombre el esp\u00edritu de envidia, de odio, de ambici\u00f3n. En este mundo ha establecido un reino de oscuridad, del cual \u00e9l es pr\u00edncipe, el caudillo de los delitos. Deseaba usurpar el trono de Dios. Como ha fracasado en esto, ha actuado a oscuras en la ilegalidad, en enga\u00f1o, para
\nusurpar un lugar en los corazones de los hombres. Ha establecido su trono entre Dios y el hombre para apropiarse de la adoraci\u00f3n que s\u00f3lo pertenece a Dios (MS 33, 1911).<\/p>\n
(Heb. 1:14.) \u00bfBajo el control de qui\u00e9n?-
\nQuiero que consider\u00e9is en qu\u00e9 clase de posici\u00f3n quedar\u00edamos si no hubiera sido por el ministerio de los santos \u00e1ngeles… “No tenemos lucha contra sangre y carne”. Hacemos frente a la oposici\u00f3n de hombres; pero hay alguien que est\u00e1 detr\u00e1s de esa oposici\u00f3n: es el pr\u00edncipe de las potestades de las tinieblas con sus malos \u00e1ngeles, que est\u00e1n constantemente en acci\u00f3n ; y necesitamos tener en cuenta -todos nosotros- que nuestra guerra es “contra principados, contra potestades, contra los gobernadores de las tinieblas de este siglo”.<\/p>\n
\u00bfQui\u00e9n es el que est\u00e1 rigiendo el mundo hoy d\u00eda, y qui\u00e9nes son los que han elegido estar bajo el estandarte del pr\u00edncipe de las tinieblas? S\u00ed, es casi todo el mundo. Todos los que no han aceptado a Jesucristo, han elegido como su caudillo al pr\u00edncipe de las tinieblas, y tan pronto como est\u00e1n bajo su estandarte, est\u00e1n en relaci\u00f3n con \u00e1ngeles malos. La mente de los hombres est\u00e1 siendo controlada, o bien por los \u00e1ngeles malos, o por los \u00e1ngeles de Dios. Nuestra mente est\u00e1 entregada al dominio de Dios, o al dominio de los poderes de las tinieblas; y ser\u00eda bueno que sepamos d\u00f3nde nos encontramos hoy: si bajo el estandarte te\u00f1ido en sangre del Pr\u00edncipe Emanuel, o bajo el negro estandarte de los poderes de las
\ntinieblas.<\/p>\n
Debemos hacer toda la preparaci\u00f3n que podamos para resistir al enemigo de las almas. Se han tomado todas las medidas; en el plan de Dios se ha dispuesto todo para que el hombre no sea abandonado a sus propios impulsos, a sus facultades limitadas para continuar la lucha contra los poderes de las tinieblas, porque ciertamente fracasar\u00eda si fuera abandonado a s\u00ed mismo (MS 1, 1890).<\/p>\n
(Sal. 34:7.) Fieles centinelas en guardia.-
\nHay \u00e1ngeles buenos y malos. Satan\u00e1s siempre est\u00e1 alerta para enga\u00f1ar y extraviar. Usa toda fascinaci\u00f3n para seducir a los hombres a que entren en el camino ancho de la desobediencia. Act\u00faa para confundir los entendimientos con conceptos err\u00f3neos, y para eliminar las se\u00f1ales colocando su falsa inscripci\u00f3n en las indicaciones que Dios ha establecido para indicar el camino correcto. Debido a que estos instrumentos de maldad se esfuerzan por eclipsar del alma todo rayo de luz, es por lo que se ha dispuesto que seres celestiales hagan su obra de ministrar, guiar, proteger y controlar a los que ser\u00e1n herederos de salvaci\u00f3n. Nadie debe desesperarse debido a sus tendencias heredadas hacia el mal; pero cuando el Esp\u00edritu de Dios convence de pecado, el pecador debe arrepentirse, confesar y abandonar el mal. Centinelas fieles est\u00e1n en guardia para dirigir a las almas por sendas de rectitud (MS 8, 1900).<\/p>\n
Constante lucha de los \u00e1ngeles.-
\nSi se descorriera la cortina y cada uno pudiera percibir las actividades constantes de la familia celestial para preservar a los habitantes de la tierra de las seductoras supercher\u00edas de Satan\u00e1s, para que debido a su descuido no sean descarriadas por la estrategia sat\u00e1nica, perder\u00edan mucha de su confianza propia y autosuficiencia. Ver\u00edan que los ej\u00e9rcitos del cielo est\u00e1n en continua lucha con los instrumentos sat\u00e1nicos para ganar victorias en favor de aquellos que no se dan cuenta de su peligro, y que siguen en su inconsciente indiferencia (MS 32, 1900).<\/p>\n

\nAndando como Cristo anduvo.-
\nLos que andan como Cristo anduvo, los que son pacientes, amables, bondadosos, mansos y humildes de coraz\u00f3n, los que llevan el yugo con Cristo y las cargas de \u00e9l, los que suspiran por las almas como \u00e9l suspir\u00f3 por ellas, \u00e9stos entrar\u00e1n en el gozo de su Se\u00f1or. Ver\u00e1n con Cristo el trabajo del alma del Redentor, y ser\u00e1n satisfechos. Triunfar\u00e1 el cielo, pues los puestos vacantes dejados en el cielo por la ca\u00edda de Satan\u00e1s y sus \u00e1ngeles, ser\u00e1n llenados por los redimidos del Se\u00f1or (RH 29-5-1900).<\/p>\n
La imitaci\u00f3n de Cristo.-
\nLa verdadera religi\u00f3n es la imitaci\u00f3n de Cristo. Los que son seguidores de Cristo se negar\u00e1n a s\u00ed mismos, tomar\u00e1n la cruz de Cristo y caminar\u00e1n en sus pisadas. Seguir a Cristo significa obediencia a todos sus mandamientos. De ning\u00fan soldado se puede decir que obedece a su comandante sino obedece sus \u00f3rdenes. Cristo es nuestro modelo. Imitar a Jes\u00fas, lleno de amor, ternura y compasi\u00f3n, exige que nos acerquemos a \u00e9l diariamente. \u00a1Oh, cu\u00e1nto ha sido deshonrado Dios por sus falsos representantes! (Carta 31a, 1894).<\/p>\n

\nPronto se pelear\u00e1 la batalla del Armaged\u00f3n.-
\nEn nuestro mundo hay s\u00f3lo dos bandos: los que son leales a Dios y los que est\u00e1n bajo la bandera del pr\u00edncipe de las tinieblas. Satan\u00e1s y sus \u00e1ngeles descender\u00e1n con poder y se\u00f1ales y falsos prodigios para enga\u00f1ar a los que moran en la tierra y, de ser posible, a los mismos escogidos. La crisis est\u00e1 muy cerca de nosotros. \u00bfDeben paralizarse las energ\u00edas de los que tienen un conocimiento de la verdad? La influencia de los poderes del enga\u00f1o, \u00bfes tan abarcante que supera la influencia de la verdad?<\/p>\n
Pronto se pelear\u00e1 la batalla del Armaged\u00f3n. Aquel sobre cuya vestidura est\u00e1 escrito el nombre “Rey de reyes y Se\u00f1or de se\u00f1ores”, conduce a las huestes celestiales montadas en caballos blancos, vestidos de lino fino, limpio y blanco (MS 172, 1899).<\/p>\n
Toda forma de mal se lanza[r\u00e1] a una intensa actividad. Malos \u00e1ngeles unen su poder con hombres imp\u00edos, y como han estado en conflicto constante y son experimentados en las mejores artes de enga\u00f1ar y de combatir, y como se han fortalecido durante siglos, no se rendir\u00e1n en el \u00faltimo conflicto sin una lucha desesperada. Todo el mundo estar\u00e1 de un lado o del otro. La batalla del Armaged\u00f3n se pelear\u00e1 y ese d\u00eda no debe hallar a ninguno de nosotros durmiendo. Debemos estar bien despiertos, como v\u00edrgenes prudentes que tenemos aceite en nuestras vasijas con nuestras l\u00e1mparas . . .<\/p>\n
El poder del Esp\u00edritu Santo debe estar sobre nosotros, y el Capit\u00e1n de la hueste del Se\u00f1or estar\u00e1 a la cabeza de los \u00e1ngeles del cielo para dirigir la batalla. A\u00fan ocurrir\u00e1n sucesos solemnes. Una trompeta tras otra resonar\u00e1, copa tras copa se derramar\u00e1 sobre los habitantes de la tierra. Escenas asombrosas est\u00e1n por sobrevenir sobre nosotros (Carta 112, 1890).<\/p>\n

SALMO 17
\n(Efe. 6: 12; Apoc. 12: 12) La lucha de David.-
\nDavid era un hombre representativo. Su historia es de inter\u00e9s para cada alma que se esfuerce por ganar victorias eternas. En su vida luchaban dos poderes por lograr la supremac\u00eda. La incredulidad reuni\u00f3 sus fuerzas y trat\u00f3 de eclipsar la luz que brillaba sobre \u00e9l desde el trono de Dios. D\u00eda tras d\u00eda continuaba la batalla en su coraz\u00f3n. Satan\u00e1s disputaba cada paso de avance que daban las fuerzas de la justicia. David comprendi\u00f3 lo que significaba luchar contra principados y potestades, contra los gobernadores de las tinieblas de este siglo. A veces parec\u00eda que el enemigo iba a ganar la victoria; pero al fin venc\u00eda la fe, y David se regocijaba en el poder salvador de Jehov\u00e1.<\/p>\n
Todo seguidor de Cristo debe pasar por la lucha por la cual pas\u00f3 David. Satan\u00e1s ha descendido con gran poder sabiendo que su tiempo es corto. Se libra la lucha ante la vista plena del universo celestial, y hay \u00e1ngeles que est\u00e1n listos para levantar un estandarte contra el enemigo, en favor de los acosados soldados de Cristo, y de poner en sus labios cantos de victoria y regocijo (MS 38, 1905).<\/p>\n
5.
\nEn todos los caminos hay peligros.-
\nNo deb\u00e9is sorprenderos si no es placentero todo lo que hay en el camino hacia el cielo. No vale la pena mirar nuestros propios defectos. Mirando a Jes\u00fas se desvanece la oscuridad y brilla la verdadera luz. Avanzad diariamente pronunciando la oraci\u00f3n de David: “Sustenta mis pasos en tus caminos, para que mis pies no resbalen”. En todos los caminos de la vida hay peligros, pero estamos seguros si seguimos donde el Maestro nos gu\u00eda, confiando en Aquel cuya voz o\u00edmos que nos dice: “S\u00edgueme. . . El que me sigue, no andar\u00e1 en tinieblas, sino que tendr\u00e1 la luz de la vida”. Repose vuestro coraz\u00f3n en su amor. Necesitamos santificaci\u00f3n de alma, cuerpo y esp\u00edritu.
