The Loud Cry

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Our hopes now centered on the coming of the Lord in 1844. This was also the time for the message of the second angel, who, flying through the midst of heaven, cried: “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city.” That message was first proclaimed by the servants of God in the summer of 1844. As a result, many left the fallen churches. In connection with this message the midnight cry [See Matthew 25:1-13.] was given: “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him.” In every part of the land, light was given concerning this message, and the cry aroused thousands. It went from city to city, from village to village, and into the remote country regions. It reached the learned and talented, as well as the obscure and humble. 1T 53.3

I saw that Satan was working through agents in a number of ways. He was at work through ministers who have rejected the truth and are given over to strong delusions to believe a lie that they might be damned. While they were preaching or praying, some would fall prostrate and helpless, not by the power of the Holy Ghost, but by the power of Satan breathed upon these agents, and through them to the people. While preaching, praying, or conversing, some professed Adventists who had rejected present truth used mesmerism to gain adherents, and the people would rejoice in this influence, for they thought it was the Holy Ghost. Some even that used it were so far in the darkness and deception of the devil that they thought it was the power of God, given them to exercise. They had made God altogether such a one as themselves and had valued His power as a thing of nought. EW 43.4
Some of these agents of Satan were affecting the bodies of some of the saints—those whom they could not deceive and draw away from the truth by a Satanic influence. Oh, that all could get a view of it as God revealed it to me, that they might know more of the wiles of Satan and be on their guard! I saw that Satan was at work in these ways to distract, deceive, and draw away God’s people, just now in this sealing time. I saw some who were not standing stiffly for present truth. Their knees were trembling, and their feet sliding, because they were not firmly planted on the truth, and the covering of Almighty God could not be drawn over them while they were thus trembling. EW 44.1
Satan was trying his every art to hold them where they were, until the sealing was past, until the covering was drawn over God’s people, and they left without a shelter from the burning wrath of God, in the seven last plagues. God has begun to draw this covering over His people, and it will soon be drawn over all who are to have a shelter in the day of slaughter. God will work in power for His people; and Satan will be permitted to work also. EW 44.2
I saw that the mysterious signs and wonders and false reformations would increase and spread. The reformations that were shown me were not reformations from error to truth. My accompanying angel bade me look for the travail of soul for sinners as used to be. I looked, but could not see it; for the time for their salvation is past. EW 45.1

As the churches refused to receive the first angel’s message, they rejected the light from heaven and fell from the favor of God. They trusted to their own strength, and by opposing the first message placed themselves where they could not see the light of the second angel’s message. But the beloved of God, who were oppressed, accepted the message, “Babylon is fallen,” and left the churches. EW 237.2
Near the close of the second angel’s message, [see Appendix.] I saw a great light from heaven shining upon the people of God. The rays of this light seemed bright as the sun. And I heard the voices of angels crying, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” EW 238.1
This was the midnight cry, which was to give power to the second angel’s message. Angels were sent from heaven to arouse the discouraged saints and prepare them for the great work before them. The most talented men were not the first to receive this message. Angels were sent to the humble, devoted ones, and constrained them to raise the cry, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” Those entrusted with the cry made haste, and in the power of the Holy Spirit sounded the message, and aroused their discouraged brethren. This work did not stand in the wisdom and learning of men, but in the power of God, and His saints who heard the cry could not resist it. The most spiritual received this message first, and those who had formerly led in the work were the last to receive and help swell the cry, “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him!” EW 238.2
In every part of the land, light was given upon the second angel’s message, and the cry melted the hearts of thousands. It went from city to city, and from village to village, until the waiting people of God were fully aroused. In many churches the message was not permitted to be given, and a large company who had the living testimony left these fallen churches. A mighty work was accomplished by the midnight cry. The message was heart-searching, leading the believers to seek a living experience for themselves. They knew that they could not lean upon one another. EW 238.3

While I was praying at the family altar, the Holy Ghost fell upon me, and I seemed to be rising higher and higher, far above the dark world. I turned to look for the Advent people in the world, but could not find them, when a voice said to me, “Look again, and look a little higher.” {WV 23.4}
At this I raised my eyes, and saw a straight and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this path the Advent people were traveling to the city, which was at the farther end of the path. They had a bright light set up behind them at the beginning of the path, which an angel told me was the Midnight Cry. This light shone all along the path and gave light for their feet so that they might not stumble. If they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus, who was just before them, leading them to the city, they were safe. {WV 23.5}
But soon some grew weary, and said the city was a great way off, and they expected to have entered it before. Then Jesus would encourage them by raising His glorious right arm, and from His arm came a light which waved over the Advent band, and they shouted, “Alleluia!” {WV 24.1}
Others rashly denied the light behind them and said that it was not God that had led them out so far. The light behind them went out, leaving their feet in perfect darkness, and they stumbled and lost sight of the mark and of Jesus, and fell off the path down into the dark and wicked world below. Soon we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus’ coming. The living saints, 144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice, while the wicked thought it was thunder and an earthquake. When God spoke the time, He poured upon us the Holy Ghost, and our faces began to light up and shine with the glory of God, as Moses’ did when he came down from Mount Sinai.

The 144,000 were all sealed and perfectly united. On their foreheads was written, God, New Jerusalem, and a glorious star containing Jesus’ new name. {WV 24.3}
At our happy, holy state the wicked were enraged, and would rush violently up to lay hands on us to thrust us into prison, when we would stretch forth the hand in the name of the Lord, and they would fall helpless to the ground. Then it was that the synagogue of Satan knew that God had loved us who could wash one another’s feet and salute the brethren with a holy kiss, and they worshiped at our feet. {WV 24.4}

I saw that God has honest children among the nominal Adventists and the fallen churches, and before the plagues shall be poured out, ministers and people will be called out from these churches and will gladly receive the truth. Satan knows this; and before the loud cry of the third angel is given, he raises an excitement in these religious bodies, that those who have rejected the truth may think that God is with them. He hopes to deceive the honest and lead them to think that God is still working for the churches. But the light will shine, and all who are honest will leave the fallen churches, and take their stand with the remnant. EW 261.1

The Loud Cry
I saw angels hurrying to and fro in heaven, descending to the earth, and again ascending to heaven, preparing for the fulfillment of some important event. Then I saw another mighty angel commissioned to descend to the earth, to unite his voice with the third angel, and give power and force to his message. Great power and glory were imparted to the angel, and as he descended, the earth was lightened with his glory. The light which attended this angel penetrated everywhere, as he cried mightily, with a strong voice, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.” The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, is repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time to join in the last great work of the third angel’s message as it swells to a loud cry. And the people of God are thus prepared to stand in the hour of temptation, which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united to fearlessly proclaim the third angel’s message. EW 277.1
Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.” This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling upon God’s people to come out of her that they might escape her fearful doom. EW 277.2
The light that was shed upon the waiting ones penetrated everywhere, and those in the churches who had any light, who had not heard and rejected the three messages, obeyed the call and left the fallen churches. Many had come to years of accountability since these messages had been given, and the light shone upon them, and they were privileged to choose life or death. Some chose life and took their stand with those who were looking for their Lord and keeping all His commandments. The third message was to do its work; all were to be tested upon it, and the precious ones were to be called out from the religious bodies. A compelling power moved the honest, while the manifestation of the power of God brought a fear and restraint upon their unbelieving relatives and friends so that they dared not, neither had they the power to, hinder those who felt the work of the Spirit of God upon them. The last call was carried even to the poor slaves, and the pious among them poured forth their songs of rapturous joy at the prospect of their happy deliverance. Their masters could not check them; fear and astonishment kept them silent. Mighty miracles were wrought, the sick were healed, and signs and wonders followed the believers. God was in the work, and every saint, fearless of consequences, followed the convictions of his own conscience and united with those who were keeping all the commandments of God; and with power they sounded abroad the third message. I saw that this message will close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry. EW 278.1
Servants of God, endowed with power from on high with their faces lighted up, and shining with holy consecration, went forth to proclaim the message from heaven. Souls that were scattered all through the religious bodies answered to the call, and the precious were hurried out of the doomed churches, as Lot was hurried out of Sodom before her destruction. God’s people were strengthened by the excellent glory which rested upon them in rich abundance and prepared them to endure the hour of temptation. I heard everywhere a multitude of voices saying, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” EW 278.2

You think, that those who worship before the saint’s feet, (Revelation 3:9), will at last be saved. Here I must differ with you; for God shew me that this class were professed Adventists, who had fallen away, and “crucified to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” And in the “hour of temptation,” which is yet to come, to show out every one’s true character, they will know that they are forever lost; and overwhelmed with anguish of spirit, they will bow at the saint’s feet. The sins of Babylon will be laid open. The fearful results of enforcing the observances of the church by civil authority, the inroads of Spiritualism, the stealthy but rapid progress of the papal power,—all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands will listen who have never heard words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from Heaven. As the people go to their former teachers with the eager inquiry, Are these things so? the ministers present fables, prophesy smooth things, to soothe their fears, and quiet the awakened conscience. But since many refuse to be satisfied with the mere authority of men, and demand a plain “Thus saith the Lord,” the popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old, filled with anger as their authority is questioned, will denounce the message as of Satan, and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and persecute those who proclaim it. Ahora nuestras esperanzas se concentraron en la venida del Señor en 1844. Esta fecha coincidía con el mensaje del segundo ángel, quien volando en medio del cielo anunció: “Ha caído, ha caído Babilonia, la gran ciudad” Apocalipsis 14:8. Ese mensaje fue proclamado por primera vez por los siervos de Dios en el verano de 1844. Como resultado, muchos salieron de las iglesias caídas. En relación con este mensaje se dio el clamor de medianoche*Véase Mateo 25:1-13.: “¡Aquí viene el esposo; salid a recibirle!” Mateo 25:6. En todos los sectores del país se vio luz concerniente a este mensaje, y el clamor despertó a miles de personas. Vi que Satanás obraba de unas cuantas maneras mediante sus agentes. Actuaba por intermedio de ministros que habían rechazado la verdad y cedido a graves engaños para creer la mentira y ser condenados. Mientras predicaban y oraban, algunos caían postrados y desvalidos, no por el poder del Espíritu Santo, sino por el de Satanás infundido en esos agentes, y por su intermedio en la gente. Mientras predicaban, oraban y conversaban, algunos adventistas profesos que habían rechazado la verdad presente se valían del mesmerismo para ganar adherentes, y la gente se regocijaba en esta influencia porque pensaba que era la del Espíritu Santo. Hasta hubo algunos que empleaban el mesmerismo y estaban tan sumidos en las tinieblas y el engaño del diablo que creían ejercer un poder que Dios les había dado. Tanto habían igualado a Dios consigo mismos que consideraban su poder como cosa sin valor. (Véase el Apéndice.) PE 43.4
Algunos de estos agentes de Satanás afectaban los cuerpos de algunos de los santos a quienes no podían engañar ni apartar de la verdad mediante una influencia satánica. ¡Ojalá que todos pudiesen ver esto como Dios me lo reveló, a fin de que conocieran mejor las astucias de Satanás y se mantuvieran en guardia! Vi que Satanás obraba así para enajenar, engañar y desviar a los hijos de Dios precisamente ahora en el tiempo del sellamiento. Vi a algunos que no se erguían rígidamente por la verdad presente. Las rodillas les temblaban, y sus pies resbalaban porque no estaban firmemente asentados en la verdad; y mientras estaban así temblando la cubierta del Dios Omnipotente no podía extenderse sobre ellos. Satanás probaba cada una de sus artes para sujetarlos donde estaban hasta que hubiese pasado el sellamiento, hasta que la cubierta se hubiese corrido sobre el pueblo de Dios, y ellos hubiesen quedado sin refugio que los protegiera de la ira ardiente de Dios en las siete últimas plagas. Dios ha comenzado a correr esta cubierta sobre su pueblo, y ella será extendida sobre todos los que han de tener refugio en el día de la matanza. Dios obrará con poder en favor de su pueblo; y a Satanás también se le permitirá obrar. PE 44.2
Vi que las señales, los prodigios y las falsas reformas aumentarían y se extenderían. Las reformas que me fueron mostradas no eran del error a la verdad. Mi ángel acompañante me invitó a buscar el trabajo del alma que solía manifestarse en favor de los pecadores. Lo busqué, pero no pude verlo; porque ya pasó el tiempo de la salvación de ellos. PE 45.1

Al negarse las iglesias a aceptar el mensaje del primer ángel rechazaron la luz del cielo y perdieron el favor de Dios. Confiaban en su propia fuerza, y al oponerse al primer mensaje se colocaron donde no podían ver la luz del mensaje del segundo ángel. Pero los amados del Señor, que estaban oprimidos, aceptaron el mensaje: “Ha caído Babilonia,” y salieron de las iglesias. PE 237.1
Cerca del término del mensaje del segundo ángel vi una intensa luz del cielo que brillaba sobre el pueblo de Dios. Los rayos de esta luz eran tan brillantes como los del sol. Y oí las voces de los ángeles que exclamaban: “¡Aquí viene el esposo; salid a recibirle!”Véase el Apéndice. PE 237.2
Era el clamor de media noche, que había de dar poder al mensaje del segundo ángel. Fueron enviados ángeles del cielo para alentar a los desanimados santos y prepararlos para la magna obra que les aguardaba. Los hombres de mayor talento no fueron los primeros en recibir este mensaje, sino que fueron enviados ángeles a los humildes y devotos, y los constriñeron a pregonar el clamor: “¡Aquí viene el esposo; salid a recibirle!” Aquellos a quienes se confió esta proclamación se apresuraron y con el poder del Espíritu Santo publicaron el mensaje y despertaron a sus desalentados hermanos. Esta obra no se fundaba en la sabiduría y erudición de los hombres, sino en el poder de Dios, y sus santos que escucharon el clamor no pudieron resistirle. Los primeros en recibir este mensaje fueron los más espirituales, y los que en un principio habían dirigido la obra fueron los últimos en recibirlo y ayudar a que resonase más potente el pregón: “¡Aquí viene el esposo; salid a recibirle!” PE 238.1
En todas partes del país fué proyectada luz sobre el mensaje del segundo ángel y el anunció enterneció el corazón de millares de personas. Propagóse de villa en villa y de ciudad en ciudad, hasta despertar por completo al expectante pueblo de Dios. En muchas iglesias no fué permitido dar el mensaje, y gran número de fieles que tenían el viviente testimonio abandonaron aquellas caídas iglesias. El pregón de media noche efectuaba una potente obra. El mensaje escudriñaba los corazones, e inducía a los creyentes a buscar por sí mismos una vívida experiencia. Comprendían que no podían apoyarse unos en otros. PE 238.2

Mientras estaba orando ante el altar de la familia, el Espíritu Santo descendió sobre mí, y me pareció que me elevaba más y más, muy por encima del tenebroso mundo. Miré hacia la tierra para buscar al pueblo adventista, pero no lo hallé en parte alguna, y entonces una voz me dijo: “Vuelve a mirar un poco más arriba”. MV 24.2
Alcé los ojos y vi un sendero recto y angosto trazado muy por encima del mundo. El pueblo adventista andaba por ese sendero, en dirección a la ciudad que se veía en su último extremo. En el comienzo del sendero, detrás de los que ya andaban, había una brillante luz, que, según me dijo un ángel, era el “clamor de medianoche”. Esta luz brillaba a todo lo largo del sendero, y alumbraba los pies de los caminantes para que no tropezaran. Delante de ellos iba Jesús guiándolos hacia la ciudad, y si no apartaban los ojos de él, iban seguros. MV 24.3
Pero no tardaron algunos en cansarse, diciendo que la ciudad estaba todavía muy lejos, y que contaban con haber llegado más pronto a ella. Entonces Jesús los alentaba levantando su glorioso brazo derecho, del cual dimanaba una luz que ondeaba sobre la hueste adventista, y exclamaban: “¡Aleluya!” MV 24.4
Otros negaron temerariamente la luz que brillaba tras ellos, diciendo que no era Dios quien los había guiado hasta allí. Pero entonces se extinguió para ellos la luz que estaba detrás y dejó sus pies en tinieblas, de modo que tropezaron y, perdiendo de vista el blanco y a Jesús, cayeron fuera del sendero abajo, en el mundo sombrío y perverso. Pronto oímos la voz de Dios, semejante al ruido de muchas aguas, que nos anunció el día y la hora de la venida de Jesús. Los 144.000 santos vivientes reconocieron y entendieron la voz; pero los malvados se figuraron que era fragor de truenos y de terremoto. Cuando Dios señaló el tiempo, derramó sobre nosotros el Espíritu Santo, y nuestros semblantes se iluminaron refulgentemente con la gloria de Dios, como le sucedió a Moisés al bajar del Sinaí. MV 24.5
Los 144.000 estaban todos sellados y perfectamente unidos. En su frente llevaban escritas estas palabras: “Dios, Nueva Jerusalén”, y además una brillante estrella con el nuevo nombre de Jesús. MV 24.6
Los impíos se enfurecieron al vemos en aquel santo y feliz estado, y querían apoderarse de nosotros para encarcelamos, cuando extendíamos la mano en el nombre del Señor y caían rendidos en el suelo. Entonces conoció la sinagoga de Satanás que Dios nos había amado, a nosotros que podíamos lavamos los pies unos a otros y saludarnos fraternalmente con ósculo santo, y ellos adoraron a nuestras plantas. Vi que Dios tiene hijos sinceros entre los adventistas nominales y las iglesias caídas, y antes que sean derramadas las plagas, los ministros y la gente serán invitados a salir de esas iglesias y recibirán gustosamente la verdad. Satanás lo sabe; y antes que se dé el fuerte pregón del tercer ángel, despierta excitación en aquellas organizaciones religiosas, a fin de que los que rechazaron la verdad piensen que Dios los acompaña. Satanás espera engañar a los sinceros e inducirlos a creer que Dios sigue obrando en favor de las iglesias. Pero la luz resplandecerá, y todos los que tengan corazón sincero dejarán a las iglesias caídas, y se decidirán por el residuo. PE 261.1

El fuerte clamor
Vi ángeles que apresuradamente iban y venían de uno a otro lado del cielo, bajaban a la tierra y volvían a subir al cielo, como si se prepararan para cumplir algún notable acontecimiento. Después vi otro ángel poderoso, al que se ordenó que bajase a la tierra y uniese su voz a la del tercer ángel para dar fuerza y vigor a su mensaje. Ese ángel recibió gran poder y gloria, y al descender dejó toda la tierra iluminada con su gloria. La luz que rodeaba a este ángel penetraba por doquiera mientras clamaba con fuerte voz: “Ha caído, ha caído la gran Babilonia, y se ha hecho habitación de demonios y guarida de todo espíritu inmundo, y albergue de toda ave inmunda y aborrecible.” Aquí se repite el mensaje de la caída de Babilonia, tal como lo dió el segundo ángel, con la mención adicional de las corrupciones introducidas en las iglesias desde 1844. La obra de este ángel comienza a tiempo para unirse a la última magna obra del mensaje del tercer ángel cuando éste se intensifica hasta ser un fuerte pregón. Así se prepara el pueblo de Dios para afrontar la hora de la tentación que muy luego ha de asaltarle. Vi que sobre los fieles reposaba una luz vivísima, y que se unían para proclamar sin temor el mensaje del tercer ángel. PE 277.1
Otros ángeles fueron enviados desde el cielo en ayuda del potente ángel, y oí voces que por doquiera resonaban diciendo: “Salid de ella, pueblo mío, para que no seáis partícipes de sus pecados, ni recibáis parte en sus plagas; porque sus pecados han llegado hasta el cielo, y Dios se ha acordado de sus maldades.” Este mensaje parecía ser un complemento del tercer mensaje, pues se le unía como el clamor de media noche se añadió en 1844 al mensaje del segundo ángel. La gloria de Dios reposaba sobre los pacientes y expectantes santos, quienes valerosamente daban la postrera y solemne amonestación, proclamando la caída de Babilonia y exhortando al pueblo de Dios a que de ella saliese para escapar a su terrible condenación. PE 277.2
La luz derramada sobre los fieles penetraba por doquiera; los que en las iglesias tenían alguna luz, y no habían oído ni rechazado los tres mensajes, obedecieron la exhortación y abandonaron las iglesias caídas. Muchos habían entrado en edad de razón y responsabilidad desde la proclamación de los mensajes; y la luz brilló sobre ellos, deparándoles el privilegio de escoger entre la vida o la muerte. Algunos escogieron la vida y se unieron con los que esperaban a su Señor y guardaban todos sus mandamientos. El tercer mensaje iba a efectuar su obra. Todos iban a ser probados por él, y las almas preciosas iban a ser invitadas a salir de las congregaciones religiosas. Una fuerza compulsiva movía a los sinceros, al paso que la manifestación del poder de Dios infundía temor y respeto a los incrédulos parientes y amigos para que no se atrevieran ni pudieran estorbar a quienes sentían en sí la obra del Espíritu de Dios. El postrer llamamiento llegó hasta los infelices esclavos, y los más piadosos de ellos prorrumpieron en cánticos de transportado gozo ante la perspectiva de su feliz liberación. Sus amos no pudieron contenerlos, porque el asombro y el temor los mantenían en silencio. Se realizaron grandes milagros. Sanaban los enfermos, y señales y prodigios acompañaban a los creyentes. Dios colaboraba con la obra, y todos los santos, sin temor de las consecuencias, obedecían al convencimiento de su conciencia, se unían con los que guardaban todos los mandamientos de Dios y proclamaban poderosamente por doquiera el tercer mensaje. Vi que este mensaje terminaría con fuerza y vigor muy superiores al clamor de media noche. PE 278.1
Los siervos de Dios, dotados con el poder del cielo, con sus semblantes iluminados y refulgentes de santa consagración, salieron a proclamar el mensaje celestial. Muchas almas diseminadas entre las congregaciones religiosas respondieron al llamamiento y salieron presurosas de las sentenciadas iglesias, como Lot salió presuroso de Sodoma antes de la destrucción de esa ciudad. Fortalecióse el pueblo de Dios con la excelsa gloria que sobre él reposaba en copiosa abundancia, ayudándole a soportar la hora de la tentación. Oí multitud de voces que por todas partes exclamaban: “Aquí está la paciencia de los santos, los que guardan los mandamientos de Dios y la fe de Jesús.” PE 278.2

Usted piensa, que aquellos que adoran ante los pies de los santos, (Apoc. 3:9), al final serán salvos.
Aquí tengo que diferir de usted; porque Dios me mostró que esta clase eran los profesos adventistas,
que habían caído, y “crucificaron a sí mismos al Hijo de Dios nuevamente, y lo expusieron a la
vergüenza abierta”. Y en la “hora de la tentación”, que aun vendrá, para mostrarle a cada uno su verdadero
carácter, ellos sabrán que están eternamente perdidos; y abrumados con angustia de espíritu, se inclinarán

“Los pecados de Babilonia serán denunciados. Los resultados funestos y espantosos de la imposición de las observancias de la iglesia por la autoridad civil, las invasiones del espiritismo, los progresos secretos pero rápidos del poder papal—todo será desenmascarado. Estas solemnes amonestaciones conmoverán al pueblo. Miles y miles de personas que nunca habrán oído palabras semejantes, las escucharán. **Admirados y confundidos, oirán el testimonio de que Babilonia es la iglesia que cayó por sus errores y sus pecados, porque rechazó la verdad que le fué enviada del cielo. Cuando el pueblo acuda a sus antiguos conductores espirituales a preguntarles con ansia: ¿Son esas cosas así? los ministros aducirán fábulas, profetizarán cosas agradables para calmar los temores y tranquilizar las conciencias despertadas. Pero como muchas personas no se contentan con las meras razones de los hombres y exigen un positivo “Así dice Jehová,” los ministros populares, como los fariseos de antaño, airándose al ver que se pone en duda su autoridad, denunciarán el mensaje como si viniese de Satanás e incitarán a las multitudes dadas al pecado a que injurien y persigan a los que lo proclaman.” CS54 664.2
